The fifteenth session of the “Decent Work Series,” organized by the Ibn Haldun University International Law and Human Rights Application and Research Center (UHAM), was held online on Monday, July 14, 2025.
In the session titled “Telework and Decent Work: Opportunities and Risks in New Forms of Work,” the new forms of employment, flexible working models emerging in today's working life marked by accelerated digitalization, and the impact of these processes on workers' rights were discussed.
The opportunities and challenges presented by the telework model, which became particularly widespread post-pandemic, were thoroughly examined in terms of "decent work" standards.
The discussion focused on the importance of key issues within the framework of 'decent work' principles, including: the regulation of telework in national and international legislation, its impact on work-life balance, the protection of employee rights during the digitalization process, job security, limits on working hours, privacy, and remote monitoring. The event was moderated by Asst. Prof. Dr. Gülnihal Ahter Yakacak, a faculty member at Ibn Haldun University Faculty of Law and Director of UHAM, while Dr. Melis Kutlu, a faculty member at Istanbul Aydın University Faculty of Law, participated as the speaker.
The event was broadcast live on UHAM’s YouTube channel.
