The nineteenth session of the "Decent Work Series," organized by the Ibn Haldun University Center for International Law and Human Rights Implementation and Research (UHAM), was held online on Thursday, December 25, 2025.
In the session titled "Protection of the Employee's Private Life in Constitutional Court Decisions: An Evaluation with a Decent Work Approach," the privacy of private life and the limits of the employer's supervisory authority, which are among the most current and controversial topics of labor law, were scrutinized.
The event was moderated by Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu, Faculty Member of the Department of Labor and Social Security Law at Ibn Haldun University, while Prof. Dr. Nurşen Caniklioğlu, Faculty Member of the Department of Labor and Social Security Law at Marmara University, participated as a speaker.
During the event, the jurisprudence developed by the European Court of Human Rights and the Constitutional Court on issues such as the inspection of communication tools in the workplace, surveillance via cameras, and the protection of personal data was detailed. Emphasizing the importance of protecting the employee's moral integrity and private life to ensure a decent working environment, practical problems in implementation and solution proposals were discussed.
