Decent Work Series III: Equality at Work: Wage Equality and Equality in Termination of Contracts Program was Successfully Implemented
In the panel on “Equality in Working Life” organized by Ibn Haldun University UHAM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seracettin Göktaş, President of the 9th Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eda Manav Özdemir from the General Directorate of Law and Legislation of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, and Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu, Faculty Member of IHU Department of Labor and Social Security Law, discussed the issues of pay equality and equality in termination of employment contracts within the framework of current judicial decisions.

The third session of the Decent Work Series organized by Ibn Haldun University International Law and Human Rights Center (UHAM) was held with the theme of “Equality in Working Life”. In the event, important issues such as equality in business life and wage justice were discussed.

Among the speakers of the panel were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Seracettin Göktaş, President of the 9th Civil Chamber of the Court of Cassation, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eda Manav Özdemir, Head of the International Arbitration and Alternative Solutions Department of the General Directorate of Law and Legislation of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey Directorate of Administrative Affairs, and Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu, Faculty Member of the Department of Labor and Social Security Law and Director of UÇAM Center.

The meeting started by highlighting the International Coalition for Equal Pay, which was established with the support of international organizations such as the International Labour Organization (ILO), the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), and the declaration of September 18 as “International Equal Pay Day”. In the panel, the issues of pay equality and equality in contract termination were discussed in detail in the light of recent judicial decisions.
