In the eleventh session of the “Decent Work Series” organized by Ibn Haldun University’s Center for International Law and Human Rights (UHAM), the role of internships in youth employment processes was discussed from legal and social perspectives.

The eleventh session of the “Decent Work Series,” organized by the Center for International Law and Human Rights (UHAM) at Ibn Haldun University, was held online on May 15, 2025. Titled “The Role of Internships in the Transition from Education to Employment: An Evaluation from the Perspective of Decent Work,” the event focused on the importance of internships in the employment process of young people, exploring its legal framework and social impacts.

The session was moderated by Prof. Dr. Yeliz Bozkurt Gümrükçüoğlu, a faculty member at the Department of Labor and Social Security Law at Ibn Haldun University. The speaker was Prof. Dr. Arzu Arslan Ertürk, a faculty member at the Department of Labor and Social Security Law at Marmara University.

The event addressed the significance of internships in preparing young people for professional life and evaluated their connection to employment policies based on the principles of justice and equality. Prof. Dr. Ertürk emphasized that internships are not only about gaining work experience, but also a crucial stage requiring the protection of young people in key areas such as social security, remuneration, and the right to work.
